Join us on an unforgettable experience where you’ll explore the arctic sea nature, safely walking on the frozen sea with snowshoes. This easy and peaceful activity takes you into a winter landscape where the sea, forest, and silence come together.
You can easily reach Nallikari from the center of Oulu by bus number 15, or by walking or cycling. The area also offers free of charge car parking areas.

Your adventure begins at our Nallikari Experience Center, where we dress in warm thermal clothing and our guide helps you fit the snowshoes to your footwear and adjust the poles to the correct height.
We will explore the frozen sea ice, as well as the forested and park-like winter landscapes nearby. The route is flat with minimal elevation, making it ideal for beginners. This experience is also suitable for families.
As we set off along the white ice of Oulu’s frozen sea, following the natural curves of the coastline, we’re surrounded by the quiet beauty of winter. The trail continues into the heart of Hietasaari, through its snowy forests and peaceful parklands, where the calm of nature embraces every step. Along the way, we also get a glimpse of local life in a “Live Like a Local” spirit — we build a campfire directly on the sea ice and enjoy hot beverages or a pot of coffee by the fire.
While the drinks are heating up, you’ll also get to see how we drill a hole in the sea ice — a typical and fascinating local winter tradition.
Throughout the journey, your guide will share interesting insights about the Oulu sea area and the natural beauty of Nallikari. This storytelling deepens the experience and creates a meaningful connection to the surrounding landscape.
No previous experience is needed — this adventure is suitable for for those over 12 years old and led by a trained guide to ensure a safe and memorable experience.

The price includes: Thermal clothing (overalls, boots, hat, and gloves), professional guidance, snowshoes or sliding snowshoes with poles, and hot drinks by a campfire on the frozen sea.
